Squirt B2 Howler

Join us for a fun filled weekend of hockey at the end of the road in Ely, MN. Last season was the inaugural Squirt Howler tournament, and we had teams come from throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. We hope you will join us this year in the frozen north. All games played at the Ely Ice Arena.

Tournament Format

Each team will be guaranteed 4 games. 3 games will be round robin pool play. The 4th game will be Sunday morning based on standings. Each seed will play the equivalent seed from the other pool for a 7th, 5th, 3rd and 1st place game.
During round robin play, ties will be allowed and points will be awarded as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a shutout, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
If there is a tie in points for standings at the end of the round robin play, the tie will be broken in the following order: 1) head-to-head play, 2) goal differential for all games played, 3) least goals scored against in all games played, 4) coin flip
During the Sunday games, there will be no ties. If a tie exists at the end of regulation play, there will be a 1-minute rest period, followed by 5 minutes of 5 v 5 sudden death period without changing ends or resurfacing. If a tie still exists at the end of the overtime, each head coach will select 3 players to participate in a shootout. The teams will alternate shots with the visiting team shooting first. If there is still a tie after the first 3 rounds, the shootout will continue 1 round at a time, in a sudden death equal shot format. No players can be repeated as shooters until all players have participated.
Team trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
